Courbet Up Close: “Burial at Ornans” Restoration and Masterworks @ Musée d’Orsay

  • Musée d'Orsay 62 rue de Lille entrance Paris, 75007 France (map)

In 2025, the Musée d'Orsay began restoring Gustave Courbet's monumental Burial at Ornans, a work whose history of exhibitions and movements has left its canvas fragile and in need of careful treatment.

AFMO invites you to a unique experience combining an exclusive visit to the restoration atelier with a guided tour of Courbet’s masterpieces in the permanent collection. Discover both the technical challenges of conserving this iconic painting and the artistic vision behind Courbet’s celebrated works.

Join AFMO for this private visit at the Musée d'Orsay on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 9am.

Priority for this event is reserved for AFMO Patron-level members and above. To register, please email membership@aforsay.org

Please note Young Patrons, Sponsor-level members, and non-members may register at an additional cost.
