The Permanent Collection, Musée d’Orsay

Approximately 150,000 works are kept in the Musée d’Orsay. These paintings, sculptures, objets d’art, photographs, and drawings illustrate the vitality of artistic creation in France, as well as in Europe and North America, between the mid-19th and early 20th centuries. Two major historical events define the scope of our collections: the 1848 Republic in France and the outbreak of the First World War in 1914, dates which also mark key milestones in the visual arts. The Musée d’Orsay holds the definitive international collection regarding the era’s major aesthetic movements—from Impressionism and the late-century Nabis painters (such as Bonnard and Vuillard) to iconic figures like Gustave Eiffel and Hector Guimard, as well as pioneers of photography.

Join us, on September 17th at 1:00 PM and discover, or rediscover, the Musée d’Orsay’s permanent collection.
