This fall, the Grand Palais, in collaboration with the Musée d’Orsay, the Musée de l’Orangerie and the Centre Pompidou, will present an exhibition dedicated to the beloved artist, Paul Cézanne. With a strong historiographical focus, the exhibition will trace the artist’s legacy, covering milestones in his recognition both in France and abroad, examining Cézanne less as a figure of impressionism and more as one of the emerging symbolist movement. “Cézanne as seen by” is the exhibition’s common thread, alternating re-creations of historical presentations and rooms in which works are confronted with each other in a stronger aesthetic focus. As a result, visitors are provided with a retrospective reinterpretation of Cézanne’s body of work, through the prism of a resolutely contemporary perspective.
