2026 marks the centenary of the death of Claude Monet (1840-1926). To mark this anniversary, the Musée de l’Orangerie has curated an exhibition focusing on his body of work’s relationship with time. A selection of almost forty works by Monet, mostly from the Musée d’Orsay’s and the Musée Marmottan Monet’s collection, along with loans from French and international public and private collections, will highlight the successive phases of Monet’s artistic career, with particular emphasis on the Nymphéas. The itinerary will reflect on the notion of acceleration of time, on the modernity of Monet’s impressionism, on the capturing of immediacy through series, and finally, on the Nymphéas cycle.
