Whether it is a representation of a muse, a couple, or a family, the Musée d’Orsay’s collection bursts with love. For example, one of the museum’s current exhibitions, Gabrielle Hébert. Amour fou at the Villa Medici, centers itself around the story of a woman in the late nineteenth century who pursued a private and sentimental photography practice. Wife of the Villa Medici’s director, Ernest Hébert, Gabrielle documented her life at the villa, creating a ‘diary in images’. While she assisted her husband’s activities as an artist, posing for him, preparing his canvases, retouching his paintings, it was he who was the main focus of Gabriel’s camera. This exhibition is nothing short of a story of love for a man and a country.
In anticipation of Valentine’s Day, and more importantly, of the Musée d’Orsay’s next exhibition Renoir and Love. Happy Modernity (1865-1885), AFMO invites you to a private tour centred around the theme of love, in all its forms. Discover the exhibition Gabrielle Hébert. Amour fou at the Villa Medici and rediscover the Musée d’Orsay’s permanent collection through rose colored glasses.
Event reserved for AFMO Sponsor-level members and above.
